If you’ve been following Sarah’s excellent Write Your Novel column every Monday, you’re probably feeling pretty clued up about the whole publishing business. From the technicalities of actually writing your novel to, more recently, finding a literary agent that’s right for you and the submission process, Sarah’s easy to follow and practical advice is a veritable gold mine for aspiring authors.
But what if you’re still looking for answers? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a literary agent on call to answer those niggly questions you’ve always secretly wanted to ask, but have perhaps been too afraid to? Especially now that you’re feeling bolstered to submit thanks to Sarah’s column, right?
Welcome to Ask the Agent. Over the next three Mondays, we’re going to be putting your questions to literary agent Madeleine Milburn. (Now’s your chance to really get down to the nitty gritty of the business and find out everything you’ve always wanted to know.)
Madeleine runs her own boutique, London-based agency – Madeleine Milburn Literary, TV & Film Agency – which has a reputation for finding and launching new writers. Representing a wide range of fiction from literary, crime and thrillers, psychological suspense, horror, women’s, historical, new adult and young adult, to middle grade and children’s books, Madeleine’s current clients include Victoria Fox, Cally Taylor, Anouska Knight, C. J. Daugherty, Evie Hunter and Holly Martin. Madeleine is actively seeking new clients (including self-published authors) and certainly has her finger on the pulse when it comes to all things publishing.
You can leave your questions here in the comments or email them anonymously to kerry@writingtipsoasis.com. Madeleine will host her first Q&A next Monday 14 March.
Don’t be shy now – it’s not every day you have a literary agent on (virtual) speed dial.
