Nicola May has popped over today to give us an amusing peak behind her book, Love Me Tinder and to tell us a little about how online dating isn't always what you might have hoped.
Over to you Nicola…
I walked into the bar and looked around me. Where was he? I glanced at the Tinder app on my phone and re-checked his photo. Staring back at me with a good head of shiny, brown hair, lovely smile and athletic build, was John, 44, from Basingstoke.
I looked up to see a grey-haired man waving at me from a table in the corner. Noticing a slight paunch under his ill-fitted black shirt and his yellow teeth, I inwardly cringed. The man then spoke. โNicola?โ It was the same voice that had confirmed our date that morning. The same voice, which was connected to a dating app. profile pic that had obviously been taken ten years ago before Johnโs now obvious requirement of Grecian 2000 and the smoking or coffee habit that had got the better of his gnashers!
And, so that was my introduction to dating on what I call a โFast Loveโ app. I had other incidences of a guy announcing loudly in a curry house he had piles so could only eat Korma and another who insisted he called me by my middle name as his ex had the same name as me and he couldnโt bear to utter it!
It wasnโt all doom and gloom as I did have some fun dates with some very charming men, who did thankfully happen to look like their photos.
But, after a year of searching, I didnโt find Mr Right, but what I did find was enough plot fuel to write about Tinder and the trials of tribulations of using an app of this kind. Hence, Love Me Tinder was born!
With my usual style of โchick lit with a kickโ, I hope that I touch on the gamut of feelings that the majority of men and women go through when dating and help my readers to realise they are not alone in their search for love in this world of digital madness!
I wonโt give away any spoilers, but I also hope I highlight that some people are not what they seem and that maybe good old fashioned courting shouldnโt be left underrated!
Love Me Tinder is available to download now. The paperback is out on Valentineโs Day 2017.
