Kill Your Darlings PosterIt's all getting a bit wordy this December with films not just based on novels but about authors too! Grab those smart-looking glasses and a notepad and get watching.

Friday 6th

Fans of Allen Ginsberg or Jack Kerouac will love Kill Your Darlings, a film about Ginsberg's time at university and the people he meets along the way. The film stars Daniel Radcliffe as Ginsberg along with Dane Dehaan and Michael C.Hall.

Friday 13th

The second of three films based on the rather small Tolkien novel The Hobbit arrives on the ominous Friday 13th. The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug has an all-star cast including Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Thorin Oakenshield, Evangeline Lilly and Benedict Cumberbatch as a dragon. What's not to love?

Thursday 26th

Ben Stiller gets serious in The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty, a remake which pits him against Kristen Wiig, Shirley MacLaine and Sean Penn. The film is based on a short story by James Thurber and looks to be very dreamlike and fantastical.

Alternatively, you could just go to see Ron Burgundy and his 'tache when Anchorman 2 arrives on Wednesday 18th. 60% of the time, it's hilarious every time.
