Five Amazing Bookcases

By Novelicious

This post was originally published at Novelicious.com and is now at WritingTipsOasis.com. WritingTipsOasis.com acquired Novelicious.com in June 2022.

When I grow up, I'd like to have a library in my house, please. The kind with wood panelling and a bookcase that revolves to reveal the concealed entrance to a secret passage. The kind with those outrageously tall ladders that slide around on wheels, a massive fireplace and comfy armchairs. Oh, and I'd like at least one library-dwelling cat, too. I dream of a library that has a balcony running around the entire room on which I could stroll, book in hand, and survey my literature-lined haven. In the meantime, a couple more bookcases will just have to suffice…

Twig Bookcase
1. The Twig bookcase by Faktura is designed to look like a tree branch and it kind of does (kind of). It's made from powder-coated steel and is available in matt black, red gloss or metallic silver gloss (pictured). $520 from Faktura.

Sloped and slanted
2. Now, this bookcase looks amazing (if a little alarming) and the website claims that 'precisely calculated enclaves shelve every book, curio and photo frame'. Not sure I'd be brave enough to use it for my priceless Ming ceramics, though… Sloped & Slanted Bookcase, £1098 from Anthropologie.

Pink bookcase
3. Love shabby chic? Adore French style? Not afraid of going a teensy-bit over the top with your home decor? This bright pink bookcase by The French Bedroom Company is, quite possibly, exactly what you’ve been looking for. Made from mango wood and finished by hand, this bookcase has a lightly carved panel at the top and a price tag of £895.

Parisot-Kub-Bookcase-King-Headboard4. This is a neat idea – a bookcase built into a headboard. Perfect for storing your bedtime reading. The Parisot Kub Bookcase is currently on offer at £88 from WayFair.

Bookworm bookcase
5. Kartell Bookworm by Ron Arad. Okay, this is more of a shelf than a bookcase, but I couldn’t resist its unusual charm. It’s flexible so you can bend it into whatever shape you fancy, and each support holds up to 10kg. At 520cm in length, you’ll be able to store lots of books, too. £401 from Heal's.
