After a writing prompt to get you geared up for the week? Yes? Your city girl protagonist has been spectacularly dumped by her boyfriend and has just lost her entry-level marketing job. Flicking through Situations Vacant at the Job Centre, she spots the following advert…
DILAPIDATED COUNTRY MANOR IN NEED OF SUMMER HOUSEKEEPER
Dilapidated private country (read: middle of nowhere) manor house in dire need of a housekeeper for the summer. Family requires help with cooking, cleaning, estate admin and general sanity-keeping. Willing to help shear the odd flock of sheep? All the better! Experience with aging and completely out-of-touch parents? You’re in! Appalling pay, very pretty live-in accommodation, utterly eccentric duties, open bar.
Applications to Matthew Hamilton (the unwilling and recently returned son)
Either:
– Write your protagonist’s application letter.
– Write the interview scene, which takes place at the manor house.
We’d love to see your efforts if you feel like sharing ‘em in the comments!
