Like us, Scotland-based book blogger Erin has a massive penchant for chicklit. Lately though, Erin has been trying to broaden her reading horizons by choosing books from other genres, so we’ve picked an excellent time to have a rummage around her bedside table. We might even pick up a recommendation or two. Over to you, Erin.
I can't remember a time when I've not enjoyed reading. Going back to when I was younger, I remember lounging in my mini armchair reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl or sitting with my papa while he read me stories from one of my many books.
Now though, most of my reading time is spent tucked up under the bedcovers before I go to sleep or on a lazy weekend morning.
The first book I have on my bedside table currently is the new Great British Bake Off Everyday, which I got as my work Secret Santa gift at Christmas. I absolutely love to bake (and everyone in my office knows it) so my present was very apt! I haven’t made any of the recipes yet, but I've had a look through the book a few times and have resolved to make everything at least once! The second book is Under The Sun by Justin Kerr-Smiley, which is one of my current reads. This book was sent to me from Arcadia Books and isn’t something I would usually read, but I'm enjoying it so far.
The next book making its home on my nightstand is by one of my all-time favourite authors – chick lit queen Paige Toon. I've read Lucy In The Sky loads of times on my Kindle, but when I started out as a book blogger, I won this copy with its gorgeous new cover in a Twitter giveaway. It has been on my bedside table since then!
Next is Melting Ms Frost by Kat Black. This is another book that I was sent – this time from Avon. Lovely blogger Ana (@ThisChickReads) won it in a giveaway and gifted it to me. I've just finished the book and absolutely loved it! I'm excited to read more from Kat.
The final book is Zenith Hotel by Oscar Coop-Phane, which is another title from Arcadia Books. Again, it's something different for me to try.
The books that are on my bedside table currently really show how I'm trying to broaden my reading horizons right now. Usually I read a lot of chick lit and romance, which takes up most of the shelf space on my Kindle app on my iPad!
There are a few other items on my bedside table and those are the Grey's Anatomy season seven box set, which I am currently watching again, and my blog diary – a Christmas present from one of my friends and a fellow blogger. You’ll see a light up star on there too and there's also a star hanging on the wall above my bedside table. This is because, every year, my mum gives me a little star in my Christmas gifts and she gives my sister a little angel in hers – it's our tradition! You can also see a couple of pictures of me and my lovely boyfriend above my bedside table; we've been together for seven years now and he loves that I read so much because it means he can play his xbox uninterrupted!
Thanks, Erin!
