Fancy seeing your name on a crime report in Graham Hurley’s next book? Or meeting the man of your dreams in a new Jane Green novel? Perhaps you’d like to be a secret agent in a spy thriller by Charles Cummings? Well, now’s your chance.
Whatever genre you like to read, 26 authors – from Joanna Trollope and Emylia Hall to Shaun Hutson and Andy McNab – are offering readers the opportunity to have their name appear in forthcoming books.
Until 8pm on Sunday 9 March 2014, fans are able to bid on eBay in an auction designed to raise funds for CLIC Sargent, which supports children and young people with cancer. The highest bidder for each author will be guaranteed to see their own name in one of their favourite author’s books.
Popular women’s fiction writer Lisa Jewell said: “I love the idea of naming one of my characters after a real person. This auction for CLIC Sargent is a fantastic idea and I’m sure it will appeal to lots of readers who want to see their names in print.”
