Eight new Richard and Judy Book Club titles were announced this week, with female authors dominating the list.
In fact, seven out of the eight strong Spring Book Club line up have been penned by women. Jodi Picoult – who became a national favourite when Richard and Judy picked her novel My Sister's Keeper for inclusion in their book club over a decade ago – is back with her latest novel, The Storyteller.
Picoult is joined by debut novelist Becky Masterman and her thriller Rage Against the Dying. Also included on the list are Longbourn by Jo Baker, Sisterland by Curtis Sittenfeld, Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughty, The Never List by Koethi Zan and A Commonplace Killing by Sian Busby, who sadly passed away before the book was published.
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion, the only male writer on the list, has our interest piqued too. A love story about a thirty-nine-year-old geneticist who devises the Wife Project, a scientific test to find the perfect partner, it sounds like an ideal read to ease us into summer.Richard Madeley said: "If there’s one thing we’ve discovered in selecting titles for the Richard and Judy Book Club, it’s just how many talented writers really are out there. We’re delighted to reveal this diverse list to kick start the new year – rest assured every one of them is an absolute page-turner. You won’t be able to put them down!”
“I couldn’t agree more," Judy continued. "We’re thrilled with the latest eight titles we’ve chosen and there really is something for everyone, ranging from gripping thrillers to laugh-out-loud humour. We hope readers continue to enjoy them as much as we have done.”
