On a balmy London evening I found myself outside one of the most unique venues for a book launch I had ever known. The evening was celebrating the launch of Wendy Wallace's wonderful new novel 'The Sacred River' (see review here) and we were invited to attend the Petrie Museum – the Museum of Egyptian Archaeology in London. The book is set in Egypt and we had a fabulous evening of talking surrounded by artefacts, jewellery and carvings.
On a large screen the impressive trailer for the book was played on a continuous loop (see here) and the gorgeous film shots helped enhance the whole atmosphere.
Wendy's editor, Jessica Leeke of Simon and Schuster, talked warmly about working with Wendy whilst rocking a brilliant red dress in the process. Wendy's agent Ivan Mulcahy gave us a glimpse of a supportive writer and a generous spirit. It was fabulous to see that the books all sold out on the night. I managed to pick up a paperback copy (I LOVE the cover) of Wendy's debut 'The Painted Bridge' before they were all snapped up too.
A really fabulous evening, thank you for inviting me!
