When an invitation to a book launch says there will be ‘Champagne, glitter and dancing’ and it's being held at the Quince Salon at The Mayfair Hotel, you know that you’re going to be in for a treat. And Ilana’s party certainly was that.
The event was to celebrate Ilana’s third novel, All That Glitters. The glitter theme spilled out to the guests, many of whom were sporting fabulous glittery nails, dresses and shoes. Ilana herself had a tiara and a hint of glitter in her outfit.
The venue was just as you’d imagine a five star hotel to be. The DJ played an eclectic mix of music and the guests mingled under the dim lighting from the chandeliers. Whilst many book launches feel like a product launch, with the room filled with a mixture of journalists, bloggers and PR’s from the publishers, Ilana’s party felt just like that: a party.
I also got to chat to Ilana who must have been an exhausted hostess making sure she got to speak to everyone at the party. We had a quick chat about the party in general and as we follow each other on twitter the conversation soon turned to that. It was really lovely that she took the time to have a chat and made me feel so welcome at the party.
Ilana also signed a copy of All That Glitters for me, which I’m now reading. It tells the story of Ella who falls in love with a footballer and becomes a WAG, but her and her new husband have a secret. I’m hooked already, and when I’m finished you’ll be able to read my review on Novelicious!
Thanks to Ilana for our invitation!
