Roxy Squires is a celebrity of the past, on a desperate search for work. In between fake tanning, bleaching her
hair from head to toe and avoiding all foods, she spends the rest of her time
harassing the media world for attention. Whilst recovering from a hangover one morning, Roxy bumps
into her window cleaner and is blown away. He is none other than her teenage
crush: famous singer Woody, aka the ‘Woodeniser’.
Woody invites Roxy to his home that very evening and when she arrives at his house dressed to impress, she is shocked to discover that not only is he in a committed relationship, but he has invited her there to join the support group he has formed for ex-celebs. Each member has been taunted by the press, chased by paparazzi and humiliated by the media, ultimately leading to their downfall in celeb-land. However, Roxy does not see herself as part of the group, and instead believes she is there to help them get their careers back on track.
I'm sorry to say that I really struggled to enjoy this book. Overall I felt the plot wasn't strong enough to hold my attention and while the characters eventually grew on me by the end of the story, their actions were all fairly predictable. I wonder if this book would suit a younger, teenage reader but I personally would not recommend it.
