Sam Binnie’s Top Writing Tips

By Novelicious

SambinnieSam Binnie is the author of The Wedding Diaries which is out now.

Don’t tell people what you’re writing before you write it – it takes the energy out of it and it will never get written

Set yourself a target each time you sit down to write – mine was 1,000 words if it was a tough bit, 2,000 if I was really in the swing of it

Keep momentum going – even if you only write for an hour or two each time, making sure you do it every single day makes a huge difference

Disconnect the internet, making a list of all the things you have to ‘research’ online so you can do it all in one blitz, and not get distracted by the beautiful, monstrous timesuck that is twitter and its like

Enjoy what you’re doing. Using words to create a world is a grand old time.
