It might only be November, but the days are getting darker and the Christmas preparations are starting. What could be better than snuggling down with a Christmassy book to get yourself in the mood?
Here are ten for you to choose from.
1. Home for Christmas by Cally Taylor – Despite having a boyfriend, at the age of twenty four no-one has ever said those magic three words to Beth. I love you. But maybe it's about time her fairytale came true. Perhaps she should take matters into her own hands? She does, but immediately wishes she hadn't. Then her job at the independent cinema seems to be in jeopardy thanks to Matt Jones…
2. Just for Christmas by Scarlett Bailey – When Alex learns that the love of her life is marrying someone else, she wants to escape. Fleeing Edinburgh she arrives in Cornwall to a cottage with neighbours that want to get her involved in their Christmas festivities. Then she meets Ruan.
3. Calling Mrs Christmas by Carole Matthews – A huge lover of Christmas and out of work for a while, Cassie sets up Calling Mrs Christmas – a business which takes the stress out of Christmas for her clients. One of her clients, Carter, asks for Cassie's help, and soon his requests are taking up all her time. Thankfully, her partner Jim is on hand to help with the other clients. But what happens when Carter asks Cassie to join him in Lapland?
4. A Cinderella Christmas by Holly Kingston – A novella from the Novelicious Books Digital Imprint. Lucy has always dreamt of a showbusiness career, but as the back end of a comedy cow? She's not so sure. What makes it worse is she's starring with Ryan Aspall: famous TV actor and sex symbol.
5. Christmas at Tiffany's by Karen Swann – Cassie, from rural Scotland, is betrayed and heartbroken. So, she decides to visit her best friends in three cities – New York, Paris and London, to try them on for size.
6. A Winter Flame by Milly Johnson – Eve is not a fan of Christmas after her fiance was killed in action on the day. Then her aunt leaves her a Christmas themed park in her will, which she has to run with the exotic Jacques. Eve will not back down from a challenge, despite her dislike of the season.
7. A Merry Little Christmas by Julia Williams – Cat, Pippa and Marianne have had a terrible year. Cat's mum has dementia and her daughter is going off the rails. Pippa's partner has an accident and Marianne is having trouble with her step son and her husband's ex. They are very much hoping Christmas is going to be much brighter.
8. Christmas at the Cupcake Cafe by Jenny Colgan – Issy has a thriving cafe and is in love. Life is great. Then her boyfriend is scouted for a move to New York. Could a long distance romance work?
9. Wish Upon a Star by Trisha Ashley – Single mum, Cally, doesn't have time for love. Her job and looking after her daughter takes up all her time. Can Jago unlock her heart?
10. I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk – Angela has fabulous plans of her own for Christmas, but it seems Santa is throwing her a few curveballs.
Ten excellent books to get you in the mood for the holidays, but have we forgotten any? What's your favourite festive read?
