Agency, will be one of the agents at the Lit Factor, in the Author’s
Lounge. Lorella has worked in the publishing industry for 12
years (for publishers as well as literary agencies) and set up her own agency
in London's Notting Hill in 2002. She studied literature and
languages at the University of Venice. She is particularly interested in first
time novelists, journalists, multi-cultural and international writing and books
about Italy.
Hoping to find:
For fiction, a great historical set in a place and time which hasn’t been
done to death, with memorable characters and unpredictable storyline; or a
page-turning psychological suspense novel with convincing characterization and
unusual hook/angle. For non-fiction,
an engaging inspiring and touching memoir or a brilliant pop psychology book.
Really would rather
not be faced with:
Anyone who writes in areas we don’t handle and we can’t help; oh, and
anyone who is debating whether to become 1. a singer or 2. a painter or 3. a
writer (can’t help with 1 and 2, and too early to see me if you haven’t written
a lot already for 3).
Hot Tip:
Never give up – if you are really good and determined to do what it takes,
sooner or later other people will realize it too. Talent, preparation and luck
go hand in hand.
