- Competition is organised by Novelicious.com.
- Entrants must be 18 or over and a resident of the UK.
- Entries must be no longer than 3000 words.
- Entries must be written in English, a work of fiction and should be part of the commercial women’s fiction genre.
- Only one entry per person is allowed.
- Entrants must not be under contract with a UK publisher, or signed with an agent at the time of entry.
- All entries must be the entrant’s own original writing, and should not have appeared in print or digital, or appear on another website (including blogs and social networking sites) or have been broadcast, or be submitted for publication or consideration elsewhere, for the duration of the Novelicious Undiscovered (which is deemed to begin on the date of entry and end on Tuesday 26th June). Work found to be published in print/digital or on a website or to have been broadcast will be disqualified.
- By entering Undiscovered you are giving us permission to publish your excerpt on Novelicious.com if you are chosen as one of the top 20 entrants.
- By entering Undiscovered you are giving us permission to put your entry to a public forum and public vote. This will likely include online critique and commentary about your entry.
- By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use of their names, city of residence, photograph and/or image for publicity purposes in all media carried out by Novelicious, Avon (HarperCollins) UK, Simon & Schuster UK and Diane Banks Associates Ltd without payment or compensation.
- Novelicious will be granted the first interviews with the winners of Undiscovered 2012
- Copyright for all entries remains with the author.
- Submitted material will not be returned.
- The prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative. The promoter reserves the right to alter the prizes without notice.
- The winners will be announced on June 26th. The prize winners will be notified by telephone/e-mail, and will need to respond immediately as to whether they are able to accept the prize. If a selected entrant does not meet all of the terms and conditions, another entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
- Novelicious Undiscovered is not open to contributors and employees of Novelicious.com, Simon and Schuster UK, Avon (HarperCollins), Diane Banks Associates Ltd and their immediate families.
- The right is reserved to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time.
- For the People’s Choice Winner – Manuscript critique will be for manuscript of up to/ around 100,000 words. It may take up to two months for notes to be returned and the date for meeting to be arranged. Winner is responsible for travel expenses to the Avon offices in Hammersmith, London. Tea and Cake will be provided. Notes will be given on the full manuscript. Prize does not guarantee publication with Avon (HarperCollins).
- For the Books and the City Choice winner – Manuscript critique will be for a manuscript of up to/ around 100,000 words. Prize must be taken within three months of notification of winning. Prize does not guarantee publication with Simon & Schuster.
- Diane Banks Associates Ltd will have a first option on representation of the People’s Choice winner for two weeks after receiving the entire manuscript.
- Diane Banks Associates Ltd’s prize includes a critique of the winner’s competition entry (no more than 3000 words) and does not guarantee representation to the winner of Undiscovered.
- Amendments, corrections or substitutions can not be made to the entry after it is submitted.
- Novelicious reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it has reasonable grounds to believe that the entrant has breached any of these rules, or made a false declaration on their entry email.
