A tale about the entrepreneurial spirit being present in young people was shared by Dan Soderberg, who has written an article in Splice Today about a book he co-authored with his son Greyson called Elevator Jones.
Below is a quote from Dan’s article, in which he describes the conversation he had with Greyson who was eight at the time:
“’Dad, can we write a book together?’ he asked.

The question was not unwelcome, though I fumbled a bit with my response. Hoping to encourage creativity and foster a love of reading, and unfamiliar with the full extent of his proposal, I said, ‘Sure buddy, we could write a story together. Lots of stories.’
‘No,’ he replied. ‘I want to write a book… with a cover and pictures that we can sell to people.’”

Greyson’s attitude and subsequent actions when working on his story with his dad are enthusing! And the ability to self-publish offered a good approach, enabling the father and son team to create a published works that could be sold, and in fact has done. For other youngsters also interested in writing and selling stories, being introduced to the business of publishing through the self-publishing model, is a sound way to help them get started.
