I have read some brilliant books over the last few years but none have kept me gripped quite like Rosamund Lupton's superb debut Sister. The story was heart-wrenching stuff and utterly impossible to put down.
It's exciting to report then that, according to Yahoo, the main character of Beatrice has been cast in the film's forthcoming adaptation with Emily Blunt set to take on the role. Blunt has previously starred in adaptations such as The Devil Wears Prada and The Jane Austen Book Club.
The book is centred around Beatrice who, on hearing that her little sister, Tess, is missing, returns home to London on the first flight available. But Bee is unprepared for the terrifying truths she must face about her younger sibling when Tess’s broken body is discovered in the snow.
The police, Bee’s friends, her fiancé and even her mother accept the fact that Tess committed suicide. But nobody knows a sister like a sister, and Bee is convinced that something more sinister is responsible for Tess’s untimely death. So she embarks on a dangerous journey to discover the truth, no matter the cost…
The book is stunning. Emily Blunt is fantastic. This may well be one of the best adaptations ever made… only time will tell!
