We carried out an exclusive interview with author Megha Agarwal, about her book called Death in Every Stride. Read on to find out what Megha had to say.
Welcome to e-Books India, Megha! We’re thrilled to have you join us for this interview. Please tell us about you. Where do you come from? What are your professional qualifications and how did you to become an author?
Thank you. I am from Delhi and currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University.
I am an active blogger at destroyheaven.wordpress.com and a gold medalist in International Mathematics Olympiad. Being a passionate learner, I dream to serve the nation with my knowledge and experience.
I was reading The Hindu at 10 p.m. one night and found the story of a woman who was brutally beaten and raped. I’ve been reading the paper for over three years now, with no change to the atrocities undergone by women and the violence faced by them. Such incidents triggered me to write a book and the result is in front of you.
You’ve recently published a book called Death in Every Stride. Please tell us about this book.
Death in Every Stride was born out of my urgent need to wake today’s youth up. It feels like it’s my time to step forward for everyone whose lives can be redefined with colors of joy and elation.
In a unique style, I have bent the protagonist’s monologue with her diary and take the readers to the horrors of domestic violence; let them live and feel that fear.
Death in Every Stride is a dark saga of atrocities that a young woman faces at her home and an awful journey she embarks upon from her wedding through her motherhood. Based on the global epidemic that many women face in their lives, it’s both a thriller and an issue. Experience the battle that is Krisanne’s [protagonist] journey and be ready to have your thoughts shaken..!
What things inspire your writing?
The people living in the society…they inspire me. There are many people who treat others as their puppets and think that they can do whatever they feel like doing. But only a few to tackle them.
Being 19 years old, I somewhere down the line knew that I am not able to put in my maximum efforts. Hence, with this book called Death In Every Stride, I aspire to inspire others and hope that they, along with me, will put their best foot forward to do what is necessary…
Are you working on any other book(s)? If so, can you please tell us what we can expect to see from you in the future?
Yes, I have plans to launch the next part soon and I am working on it. I have already started developing the storyline and the plot in my head. The story would focus on the protagonist’s daughter. How with great planning and more passion she decides to conceive a crime of revenge?
From your experiences, can you please share 2-3 pieces of advice with budding writers who want to publish a book?
Don’t wait for the right moment. If you wish to convey your message out to the world, then just do it today. Ideas are all around you. A conversation overheard at the metro station can trigger a really interesting story and may set a base for your message!
Be patient throughout the entire process-from writing to receiving your complimentary copies.
How can people find out more about you?
Well, I am available on social networking sites. One could find me on Facebook and Twitter. I am happy to stay connected with sensible people. 🙂
One can also connect with me on my blog: destroyheaven.wordpress.com.
