Book Lovers Auckland is a book club in Auckland. Group organizer Felicity Williamson heads up this group of women who love reading, meeting, and talking. Book Lovers Auckland welcomes all women in Auckland who are looking for a place to find new friends, read shared books together and even share a meal or drink together from time to time.

3. Auckland Books and Brunch Club
Situated in Auckland, Auckland Books and Brunch Club is the brainchild of Zoe, group organizer and recent returnee to New Zealand. Auckland Books and Brunch Club is aimed at women in their 20s and 30s who are looking for a place to meet new people and enjoy fiction novels and other bestselling books.
Some of the books that Auckland Books and Brunch Club has read in the past include “Less” by Andrew Seen Greer and “The Vanishing Half” by Brit Bennett. Book club meetings generally take place once a month, on the first or second Sunday. Auckland Books and Brunch Club likes to keep meetings in person; venues will vary, but remain within Auckland.

4. Auckland Book Lovers Book Club
Auckland Book Lovers Book Club is a book club operating in Auckland, with over 380 active book club members. The book club meets once a month, consistently on a Sunday. Auckland Book Lovers Book Club has covered fiction and non-fiction books, including biographies, books from different countries, and crime novels.
Auckland Book Lovers Book Club does not assign a particular shared book for book club members to all read but will provide a theme to help guide book club members towards choosing a book of their own. 6. Silent Book Club Auckland
Established in 2012 in San Francisco, USA, Silent Book Club is a unique book club that has since expanded across the world, including a chapter in Auckland. Silent Book Club’s book club concept revolves around creating a supportive space for book club members to be able to read in silence, while feeling embraced by a community of other similar individuals.
Silent Book Club Auckland is the local chapter of Silent Book Club and welcomes all introverts and readers who are less inclined to join book clubs that expect them to share ideas or voice out opinions. While conversations and building relationships are aspects of the book club experience that Silent Book Club Auckland members are welcome to enjoy, there’s no obligation to do anything aside from read the books you want to read, silently.

7. Reading Revolution
Auckland is home to the Reading Revolution, a book club that welcomes men and women looking to enjoy a book, poem or conversation together with other book club members. The Reading Revolution is led by a team of committed co-organizers, including manager Kate Middleton, organizer Teresa Lee and Reader leader Alisha Newton-Rudhru, who have all been with the group since 2020.
The Reading Revolution hosts both online and in person meetings, with their in person meetings happening at various locations around the city, including different library branches. Instead of longer shared books, shared readings at the Reading Revolution tend to be short stories and poems, which allow for more discussions and conversations about the contents of the readings. The Reading Revolution offers various times and locations for shared readings, to allow as many people as possible to participate.

8. Book Discussion Scheme
Book Discussion Scheme is a New Zealand organization that has been founding and supporting book clubs since 1973. Today, they support 1,300 book clubs throughout New Zealand, including over 40 in Auckland. Book Discussion Scheme’s Auckland book clubs include book clubs for women in their 50s, book clubs for people working in education, and book clubs for the elderly.
Some of the books that Book Discussion Scheme provides book clubs include books of various genres such as “The Mountain Sing” by Nguyen Phan Que Mai and “Once There Were Wolves” by Charlotte McConaghy. 9. University of Auckland Virtual Book Club
Working out of Auckland, University of Auckland Virtual Book Club is an online book club for all University of Auckland alumni, students, staff and friends. Book club members commit to read through a shared book every two months, including non-fiction books about personal growth, fiction novels and others.

10. Our Auckland Kids’ Book Club
Our Auckland Kids’ Book Club is a book club situated in Auckland that was created to make a safe and supportive space for children (aged 9-12) to get together with other peers and read together. Children are welcome and encouraged to bring the book of their choice to join others in the book club to read together and talk about the topics within the books.
Our Auckland Kids’ Book Club is free of charge for participants. Kids attending the book club who are under 14 years of age must have a parent or guardian in attendance with them at all times. Our Auckland Kids’ Book Club is hosted at Blockhouse Bay Library and meets monthly on the first Saturday of the month.
