Childhood presents under the tree, selection boxes for breakfast and one very swanky handbag, Novelicious favourite and The Woman Who Stole My Life author Marian Keyes talks all things Christmas.
What is your favourite Christmas memory?
Waiting outside the (locked) sitting room door with my brother and sister then being let in and seeing the presents under the tree, and they were always better and more of them than expected and it felt genuinely magical and thrilling.
What festive traditions do you most enjoy?
To be honest – and this is hard to admit – I’m not a fan of Christmas, I just think it puts way too much pressure on people and I wish it could all be scaled back to more manageable proportions. But Christmas often means that my sister who lives in New York comes home and we’re all together as a family and I love that.
What is Christmas Day like for your family?
Chaotic. We go to my parents and it’s mad busy – hot, loud, every telly on, people slumped on the couch, eating selection boxes for breakfast – a bit like the last days of Rome.
Is there a particular gift you’re secretly hoping Santa will bring you this year?
I’ve become obsessed with Trollbeads – a Danish jewellery company, who do the most beautiful charm bracelets and pendants. I’ve hinted very very strongly to Himself that I’d like the Shooting Star charm and some of the blue beads. Also, there’s a handbag company called Brix and Bailey and they do a satchel in purple and blue that I’d LOVE! So we’ll see what happens…
Thanks, Marian. Merry Christmas!
