1. Write about what you know and what you're passionate about.
2. Create a game plan. I find that outlining my books really helps. This way, I know what's ahead and can start thinking about what I want to write beforehand, like when I'm in the shower! And, remember, you don’t have to stick to your outline, it’s just there to guide you.
3. Treat writing like it’s your job. You have to “go to work” even if you're not feeling it.
4. Ask family and friends to critique your writing. It’s hard to be objective about your own work.
5. Develop a thick skin and never answer back to a negative review – no matter how tempting it may be!
