Holy what? The fabulous Sophie Kinsella here in the Novelicious Newsletter answering your questions? It’s totally happening and we’re mega excited about it. With her gorgeous new book, Wedding Night, hitting the number one spot in the UK charts on its release, it seemed like the perfect time to have a natter with Sophie, and ask her some of your most pressing questions in this month’s Twitterview.
Sophie: I’m not sure they have! One of the most popular films recently was Bridesmaids, which had comedy, humour and a great happy ending. I think people will always love and respond to being made to laugh. And, I’m sorry but everyone loves a happy ending!
Sophie: Absolutely overwhelmed and thrilled. The whole experience was surreal. I sold the rights to the book when I first wrote it, in fact before it was even finished. Then eight years later it was suddenly being made into a major Hollywood movie. The whole experience was amazing, exciting and quite scary. Not that it’s given me any inspiration for my next Shopaholic book…;)
Sophie: I can’t choose between them, but I’ve always had a soft spot for Luke.
Sophie: Both! I identify with every single one of my heroines. It’s as though each one represents a different facet of me. But I’m sure I channel a lot of other people into them too, both intentionally and unintentionally!
And we couldn’t help asking a question of our own, because who doesn’t want to know how to channel a little Sophie Kinsella when it comes to their own writing? We asked:
What are your top five writing tips?
Sophie: 1. Write the book that you want to read. 2. Don’t tell anyone what you’re writing. 3. Always write something – you may change it later, but at least you’re keeping going. 4. Get to the end! 5. Enjoy it. It’s frustrating – but it’s great fun too.
Thanks to Sophie and thanks to YOU for your excellent questions. Join us on Twitter this month and keep your eye out for our next Twitterview open call. Don’t forget, you can enter to win a copy of Wedding Night or a bookplate signed by Sophie Kinsella in this month’s newsletter, too. Good luck!
