Five Exciting Expanding File Folders

Mmmm, expanding file folders. I've always had a lot of love for these, ever since I was bought a plain foolscap-sized one 'back in the day'. Yes, at the time I only needed to file my hand-written stories about magical cats and friendly ponies, but I lovingly labelled the divided sections of that buff-coloured beauty and dreamed of the day when I could buy a whole shelf-full of expanding folders and spend happy days filing important documents. Ha. Of course, these days I'd far rather spend my time writing about magical cats (or anything, really), rather than filing (tax returns – argh), but a lovely folder really does make boring admin much more enjoyable.

Bella Tote1. This folder/bag combo wins hands down as the fanciest filing system ever. The Bella expandable file bag is made from Italian leather and looks very swish indeed. It has nine file-sized compartments and comes in either black, tan, pink or purple. $96 from See Jane Work.

Foolscap File2. Oh, this foolscap expandable file folder from Ryman takes me back… Happy sigh. I like the bright colours on the alphabetized tabs, the generous size, and the low price tag of £7.99.

Blue Polka Dot Folder3. Polka dot alert! My love of cheerful dotty patterns knows no limits and this twelve-part blue expander file folder is currently on sale – even better. £4.79 from WHSmith.

Snopake Eligo Desk Organiser4. This file folder is made from polypropylene (not my favourite material in the universe) but I like the smart black exterior and colourful dividers inside. There are thirteen expanding sections and it costs just £11.95 from Office Stationery.

Emma Bridgewater Folder5. As you are no doubt aware, Emma Bridgewater has branched out from attractive crockery and now adds her distinctive designs to stationery items, too. This A4 expander file is from the 'Toast' range and features the encouraging slogan 'Everything In Order and So Easy To Find'. Indeed. The folder has twelve compartments and costs £12 from John Lewis.
