It’s Christmas! The tinsel is sparkling, the anticipation of no work for two weeks is hanging in the air and everything is adorned with festive fairy lights twinkling with happiness. But Angela is not feeling Christmas. Alex is on tour in Japan and won’t be back for the holidays and her parents have already made other plans, so it’s safe to say that Angela is lacking in Christmas spirit. Her best friend, Jenny Lopez, is not prepared to give up on her favourite festive season or Angela, however. Jenny is about to save Christmas!
Our favourite New York best friends are back in this festive short story, which boasts a sprinkling of romance, some drunken escapades, a ten-foot Christmas tree and a moaning supermodel amongst other delights.
Desperate to get away from her past, Jenny and the gang head up to Erin’s lakeside retreat for the holidays. Jenny’s sorted everything – the food, the tree, and the decorations – only for nothing to go quite to plan.
This is the perfect Christmas read. It’s fast paced, full of fun and features all your favourite characters from the I Heart series. Jenny is an excellent narrator and made me laugh out loud several times with her descriptions as the hilarious events unfolded. And while Jenny may be the main focus of this particular short story, Angela is still a big part of the book and brings her own humour to it. Jenny’s supermodel flatmate Sadie, too, is both annoying and entertaining and there is a brand new love interest on the horizon, whom I hope appears in the next I Heart novel, should Kelk decide to give us the best gift ever and add a new adventure to the series.
Full of giggles and candy cane cocktails, this is an ideal short read for Christmas time.
