1. Portland Virtual LGBT+ Book Club
The Portland Virtual LGBT+ Book Club meets online monthly to discuss books of many genres that feature LGBT+ subject matter or characters. Meetings usually take place on the first Sunday at 11 a.m. However, they sometimes read more than one book and hold additional meetings.
Book club details are posted in their private Meetup group. Additional discussions take place on Slack if members are interested in joining in. The group does not charge a fee but does request that members provide donations as they are able to help pay fees incurred by the group.

2. SD Gay Men’s Book Club
If you are a gay man in San Diego, California, who is looking for an in-person book club to join, consider the SD Gay Men’s Book Club. This small but active group organizes its events on Meetup and meets at various venues around the area, including private homes.
Gatherings are casual with light snacks and drinks being served by the hosts. The books they choose are from recommendations from members and tend to revolve around self-help in the areas of love, life, and happiness. They aim to support one another through literature.

3. LGBTQI Book Club
This Las Vegas based book club was created on Meetup in February 2021 by Ryan Pettengill. The group reads a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction and facilitates discussion between like-minded individuals in an online environment via Zoom.
Throughout the reading period, the organizer posts questions on Meetup that are designed to foster interest and inspire discussion on the forum and during the upcoming meeting. Details on upcoming meeting dates and times are sent to members once they have been set.

4. The Little Gay Book Club
The Little Gay Book Shop in Austin, Texas, created this book club to help members of the LGBTQ+ community who love books come together for some discussion and camaraderie. The group reads a variety of books provided by or purchased from the book shop.
The book club charges a membership fee with a choice of four different levels. There is a mutual fund set up to aid those who cannot afford to pay. Meetings are held in person and online. Details are sent to members via email and posted on the book club’s Discord channel.

5. Queer Community Book Club
The LOFT LGBTQ+ Community Center in White Plains, New York, hosts this weekly book club, which they sponsor with Queery. The club concentrates on books written by authors who identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Meetings are free other than the purchase of the book, which members can purchase or borrow from their preferred provider. The group meets virtually via Zoom on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. Information about joining the discussion is posted online for all who want to join.

6. SLC Scream Queers
Under the Umbrella Book Store in Salt Lake City, Utah, hosts several LGBTQ+ book clubs, including SLC Scream Queers, dedicated to exploring books in the horror genre. Because some of the books read tend to be graphic in nature, the book is limited to 18+ members.
Discussions are held in person at the book store one Saturday per month. Dates and times are posted on the website for participants to RSVP. A small donation is requested for those who participate but isn’t mandatory. Books can be purchased at the bookstore or obtained elsewhere.

7. Queer Lit Book Club
The Queer Lit Book Club at Third Place Books in Seattle, Washington, is held online, making it accessible to those in LGBTQ+ communities around the world. The group gets together at 7 p.m. on the final Wednesday of the month to discuss modern queer writings.
There is no fee to join club meetings, but they do request that participants RSVP prior to each event. The book store prefers that books be purchased from them, but it is not a requirement. Anyone who wishes to join in can do so with or without having read the selected book.

8. Lavender Book Club
The Lavender Book Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is sponsored by the Pittsburgh Equality Center and Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. This group holds in-person and online monthly events where they discuss LGBTQ+ centric fiction and non-fiction books.
Meetings are usually held on the final Thursday but are subject to change. Details are mailed to those who join their mailing list. Additional in-person events are held in New York City and the District of Columbia, but those outside these areas can always join the Zoom discussions.

9. ACB LGBTQ+ Book Club
A Cappella Books in Atlanta, Georgia, hosts this monthly book club on the second Thursday of each month. Discussions are held on Zoom at 7 p.m. and focus on assorted contemporary and classic books written by or for the LGBTQ+ community.
The group endeavors to cover a wide array of queer non-fiction and fiction to embrace the diversity of the book lovers who belong to the group. The leader of the group, Abby Williams, aims to provide common ground to everyone interested in sharing opinions on books.

10. Read It or Don’t Book Group
The Center on Colfax and Denver Public Library co-sponsor this book club. The group explores a selection of fiction and non-fiction books written by members of the LGBTQ+ community for those with similar lifestyles. Online meeting dates and times are posted on their site.
Authors are invited to share thoughts and answer questions. Live feeds both on Facebook and YouTube are provided for anyone who wants to participate in the chat. Everyone is welcome to discuss their thoughts on the book or simply learn about the book without reading it.
