Time for a little bit of Monday motivation in the form of a writing prompt to ease us into the week. Finish the scene we've started below and feel free to share your resulting work in the comments, send us a link on Twitter or Facebook, or jot it down somewhere private.
You stumble across an old flame on Facebook. The two of you dated throughout school and for the first year of your respective university study, but separated when distance became too much of an issue. Even though you haven’t seen him for years, you experience a rush of emotion at the mere sight of his name. Feeling courageous after a rare third glass of wine, you drop him a message and ask to meet the following Saturday. For old times’ sake. To catch up.
He responds almost immediately. ‘I’ll meet you at our old café at 10am.’
While waiting at the café, your old flame walks in – handsome as ever – in full wedding garb. He stops and stares, drinking you in greedily, before saying: ‘I’m supposed to be getting married today, but…’
What does he say? And what happens next? Write the scene.
