Though Laura works as a Marketing Executive in the city of London during the day, she can mostly be found with her nose in a book at night. If she’s not reading books, she’s tweeting or blogging about them at Laura’s Little Book Blog. Today, Laura has invited us into her very pretty bedroom to see what titles are currently making their home on her bedside table. Over to you, Laura.
My bedroom is my haven. It is my favourite place to relax and switch off when I’ve had a busy day at work and just want to escape from the stresses of it all – especially the commute. It goes without saying, this is where I like to read the most.
My bedside table takes pride of place in my room. It is where I keep all of my current favourite things and this obviously includes books. I keep some of my next reads here and I have put some of them on the floor in front of my bedside table, as you can see. This is so my review copies don’t tower over me every time I go to sleep; it also helps my TBR pile appear less daunting by splitting it up. I keep my Kobo here too, with all my eBooks ready to read – though I take my eReader with me everywhere I go.I have my current read on my bedside table, which is The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. I’ve been excited about this novel for ages, as Sue is one of my most favorite authors ever! Also, as one of my 2014 resolutions is to read one of my own bought books a month, I have added You Had Me At Hello by Mhairi McFarlane, which has been crying out to be read for a while. Another book on the pile is Yours Truly, which I promise has not been strategically placed there!
The other items on my bedside table are a card from my Nanny thanking me for taking her out on her birthday; my pot of pens, a mini notebook and my best loved pen, ready to use when I need to write things down or an idea comes to mind. I also have my hand cream, which I use every night, my lip balm and a torch. I keep my torch there in case of being caught out by a power cut – this came in very handy over the holidays as I was one of the people affected by the storm! Also if you are wondering what those little red shoes are on top of my books, they are part of a Wizard of Oz bookmark, which my cousin gave me.
Books are the main thing that make me feel happy, so I like to have them close. When I’ve had a bit of a tough day, it’s nice to get myself a cup of tea, using my favourite mug (pictured), switch on my bedside lamp, curl up in bed and lose myself in my latest read.
Thanks, Laura!
