A marketing and social media consultant by day, Kent-based Ronke runs the popular lifestyle blog Ondo Lady by night, where she blogs about fashion, travel and books. Today, Ronke has invited us into her home to see what little treasures we can find on her bedside table. Over to you, Ronke.
My nightstand consists of the book I am currently reading, which is In My Shoes by Tamara Mellon, a bio about her life building the Jimmy Choo brand. I am not really one for business bios (sport bios I love), but this book is a great read and shows you how an iconic brand was created from scratch.
I also have the next three books on my TBR list there too – The Accidental Apprentice by Vikas Swarup, Happy Endings by Jon Rance and I Heart Christmas by Lindsey Kelk. My TBR pile (or piles) are ridiculous and take up a reasonable space in my lounge. I think it will take me years to get through them, but that does not stop me buying more books.I actually have two bedside tables. On one of them, you’ll find my portable TV and DVD player, which I use to re-watch films and classic TV series such as Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty and Gossip Girl. I love watching the odd film on a Saturday morning with a cup of tea. I find it very blissful.
On the other bedside table is my digital radio, iPod, my glasses case, reading lamp, mobile, tablet, a couple of lip balms and a candle. I love a bit of radio to listen to in the morning when I am getting ready for work. I tend to listen to TalkSport when a major sporting tournament like the Olympics and the World Cup is on, simply for the hilarious commentary.
My iPod is often left charging on my radio in the evenings. My glasses are the last thing I take off at night so, logically, they are kept on my bedside table. My reading lamp is essential for when I am working on my laptop in bed or using my tablet. In fact, it is a lifesaver. I am addicted to my phone. I am always checking for emails, Twitter, Instagram and text messages, so it has to be close to me just in case I can't resist a peep during the night. I only started using a tablet last year and I am shocked by how easy it is to get attached to it. In fact, I have no idea how I coped without it.
Lip balms are essential to my life. I often have two on the go; the small pots and the mini roll ons. I love them and cannot imagine life without them. I have candles dotted around the house and one on my bedside table, which I light in the evenings when I am winding down. It creates a really lovely ambience in the space. There is nothing like a candle to make you feel cosy.
My bed is really my sanctuary and where I rest, relax and revive myself. It is the biggest room in the house, but funnily enough, has the smallest radiator so I sometimes escape up there to cool down when the rest of the house gets too hot. I don't actually do much book reading here unless I am in the middle of a book that I am entranced by. Most of my book reading is done on commutes to London. I tend to use my tablet in this space to catch up on blogs or YouTube videos.
Thanks, Ronke!
