Samantha March is an author, editor, publisher and all around book lover. She runs the popular book and women’s lifestyle blog ChickLitPlus, which keeps her bookshelf stocked with the latest reads and focuses on all things health, fitness, fashion and celebrity related. When she isn’t reading, writing, or blogging, you can find her cheering for the Green Bay Packers in Iowa, where she lives with her husband and Vizsla puppy. Over to you, Samantha.
You never quite know what you’re going to find on my nightstand. The only regular items there are the book I’m currently reading, a framed picture of my husband and I on our wedding day, and my cell phone.
Typically my Kindle is there instead of a physical book because I’m often reading an eBook – I take my Kindle everywhere as it doubles as my internet connection when I don’t want to use my phone. While I still love a paperback, because of my job, reading on a Kindle is much easier for me. I have tight deadlines for book reviews so being able to throw my Kindle in my purse and have it with me in waiting rooms or being able to pull it out for a few minutes in between innings at my husband’s ball games makes it easy for me to always be reading.
A few books that are on my Kindle right now include titles that are just 99 cents this week as they are participating in the #ChickLitMay promotion – my Kindle was quite happy with all these deals! I currently have Blogger Girl by Meredith Schorr, Breaking the Rules by Cat Lavoie, Dangled Carat by Hilary Grossman and For the Love of Cupcakes by Anita Kushwaha. Others that I’m hoping to get to this month include French Twist by Glynis Astie, Good Intentions by Kathryn Biel, Hard Hats and Doormats by Laura Chapman and Here, Home, Hope by Kaira Rouda. Both my husband and I have photos from our wedding day on our nightstands, and mine is a photo of us kissing right after we cut the cake. We both played nice and didn’t smear frosting all over each other, so the pictures are actually decent. My husband’s picture is during our first dance, and it’s a gorgeous black and white shot. I’m not sure why I don’t steal it for my side.
My nightstand is somewhat of a landing zone for other objects. As you can see, my clutches can take up residence after I’ve used them on a night out. I keep meaning to make room in my closet for them, but I just haven’t found the time yet to reorganize that sucker. I will not take a picture of my disaster of a closet – you’re welcome. My piggy bank (yes, shaped like a pig) is there because I just cashed that baby in and haven’t put it back in the dreaded closet yet, because I really am trying to reorganize. One day. I’ve even found flip flops shoved in the back of the nightstand before now. We have a six month old puppy in the house; leaving items on the floor just does not work, so I tend to hide things in the nightstand. She doesn’t mind if things are in her line of sight, she'll leave those alone, but if something is on the floor she declares it free game! I’ve already lost a couple of flip flops … socks … shirts … makeup … to her chewing ways.
So that is my nightstand! Maybe one of these days I’ll get it looking organized, right after I’ve tackled my closet…
Thanks, Samantha!
