Today, we’re making a special trip across the Atlantic ocean to see what two of our favourite bloggers, Melissa and Amy from Chick Lit Central, have on their nightstands in the USA.
Melissa Amster lives in Maryland (near Washington DC) with her husband, two sons and daughter. When she's not reading and interviewing authors, she works for a Jewish non-profit.
Amy Bromberg, meanwhile, lives in New Jersey with her husband and, as well as blogging up a storm, works as a book publicist.
Over to you, ladies!
As well as photos of our bedside tables, we both decided to share a list of what's in our to be read piles.
Melissa’s nightstand has a book fairy doll that Marlene from the Book Mama Blog gave her taking pride of place (even though her daughter messed up the letters in the frame around her neck). You'll also find a bookmark featuring Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory, which one of her friends (who is also a review associate for Chick Lit Central) gave her for her birthday.
Amy’s nightstand is a lot neater than Melissa’s. Aside from books, she has some beauty products, which are easily accessible.
So, without further ado, the books on our all important to be read piles.
Melissa:
Tempting Fate by Jane Green – This was a surprise in my mailbox this past summer, but since it was only out in the UK at the time and we’re a US-based blog, I was told to wait to feature it. That’s okay because I had a billion other books to read. Now that the publication date is getting closer, I’m excited to dig in!
Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight – I had heard good things about this book, and when I saw a good deal on it at my local used bookstore, I grabbed it right away! I hope it is as good as everyone is saying.
Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell – I loved Attachments and am currently enjoying Fangirl. I have a feeling this one will be a winner too.
House Rules by Jodi Picoult – I missed out on reading some Jodi Picoult novels when they came out a few years ago and I want to get around to finally reading them. If she’s going to make us wait until next winter for her next book, I might as well enjoy what I missed the first time around in the meantime!
Me Before You by JoJo Moyes – I won this in a giveaway recently and have been planning to read it. Two women from Chick Lit Central chose it as a 2013 favorite and my sister said it's a must-read, as well. Now it's even higher on my list.
The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society by Darien Gee – Since I really enjoyed Friendship Bread, I was interested in reading the follow-up novel. It looks like it will be nice to cozy up to on a winter's day.
Amy’s TBR:
Life After Yes by Aidan Donnelley Rowley – My book fairy (yes, Melissa Amster!) lent me this book a while ago and it has been patiently waiting for me to pick it up.
The Repeat Year by Andrea Lochen – Same as above!
Buying In by Laura Hemphill – I won this from a giveaway on The Debutante Ball blog. I noticed it a few weeks prior and when I saw the giveaway, I knew I had to enter. I won!
So Far Away by Meg Mitchell Moore – I won this in a giveaway, too.
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult – Yet another giveaway win a little after the book came out. I heard such great things about it, so of course I wanted it. I’m actually reading it now and surprise, surprise, it’s fantastic.
Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly by Kimberly McCreight – I got this at Book Expo of America last year at the HarperCollins blogger party, where I actually got to meet Kimberly. She’s so sweet.
Thanks, Melissa and Amy!
