With 2015 just around the corner, now is the time to make note of all those things that can help you to be a happier, healthier author, and make a conscious effort to create habits out of doing activities, and adopting attitudes that will enable you to do this. Read on to learn about 5 things to do every day in 2015 to be a better author.
1. Be grateful
Rather than focusing on all that you don’t have, consider daily what you do have. It could be the most simplest of things such as having family, friends, your pet or fans of your books. Practicing gratitude every day is a wonderful reminder of all that you have in your life. Not only is it a form of creating happiness, the good vibes you create will be transmitted to others as well. Positive energy spreads. Also, your level of compassion towards those less fortunate than you will increase.
2. Strive to live the fullest
With humans being humans, your days, weeks and months in 2015 will bring trials and tribulations. However life is just too short to worry. It’s worthwhile reminding yourself about this on a daily basis, whether it’s first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Make proper attempt at living each moment of every day as full as you can. The truth we never really know when we might breathe our last, so make the most of every day.
3. Write daily
If your writing was inconsistent in 2014, then make a decision to write every day in 2015, and only divert from this commitment if a life or death situation presents itself to you. Getting better at writing is just like any other endeavor in life. The more you write, the more you will improve, and you have 365 days in the coming year to improve your craft. Make the most of this wonderful opportunity.
4. Make your dreams for the New Year come true
What you want to do in 2015 in terms of goals and aspirations will be unique to you. Whatever it may be (whether it’s a professional or personal activity), do something daily; even if it’s just one thing and takes up 5 minutes of your time to make your dreams for the New Year a reality.
5. Practice positive self-talk
A lot of what you’ll achieve in 2015 will be dependent upon the way you talk to yourself. Yes, internal self-talk really is that powerful. Get into the habit of using positive language that affirms the type of author and person you want to become. Again this can be a daily habit you can create, which needn’t take up more than 5 minutes your time. Make a list of 5 powerful statements in the first person and repeat them to yourself out aloud, and feel your confidence and motivation rise. Use this as a driving force to take action that will move you closer to the person you’re going to be.
