A happy new year calls for a happy new book club selection, don’t you think? Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan are certainly on the ball in that department; the book-loving duo have already announced a cracking list of eight new book club titles for Spring 2015.
Once again, this season’s book club is dominated by fantastic female writers – six of the eight books have been penned by women – and there’s a broad mix of genres.
The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton made the cut as did The Book of You by Claire Kendal, Elizabeth Is Missing by Emma Healey, Miss Carter’s War by Sheila Hancock and Mrs Hemingway by Naomi Wood.
We were especially excited to see the touching, funny and beautiful Last Days of Rabbit Hayes by Anna McPartlin – one of our ones to watch in 2015 – on the list, which follows Mia ‘Rabbit’ Hayes and her family as she faces imminent death. You can read an exclusive extract here.A Colder War by Charles Cumming, meanwhile, promises plenty of suspense and secrets while The Murder Bag by Tony Parsons brings good old-fashioned, fast-paced thrills to the list with its serial killer prowling the streets of London.
Have you read any of these titles already? Which will you be starting with?
