Literature lovers often dream of owning a bookshop and spending their days amongst teetering stacks of books, but that dream has just become a reality – for anyone willing to pay £150 per week for the privilege.
The Open Book Shop, located in Scotland’s ‘national book town’ of Wigtown, has been listed on holiday letting website AirBnB offering literary travellers the chance to work a full week selling books and customising the quaint seaside bookshop with their own stamp.
Lodging is provided in the pretty apartment above the store and local book experts are on hand to train guests as part of the £150 weekly package.
“Live your dream of having your very own bookshop by the sea in Scotland for a week or two,” says the online listing. “Residents are expected to contribute to the unique literary community of Scotland’s National Book Town by helping to sustain one of its bookstores.”According to the description on AirBnB, duties include opening and closing the shop, welcoming visitors, selling books, creating window displays, planning bookish events and more.
When can we start? Dibs on the biggest bedroom!
