We have an exclusive sneak peek of Sofia Khan is Not Obliged by Ayisha Malik for you this afternoon, which is the first women’s fiction title from new Bonnier imprint Twenty7.
Excitingly, Twenty7 will focus on debut authors and international writers new to the UK market, and will publish all titles as ebooks in the first instance, with mass market paperbacks following within six months.
Published on September 3rd, Sofia Khan is Not Obliged is the imprint’s first rom-com. The book follows the 30th year of Sofia Khan, a single book publicist whose boss notices her knack for writing about being a single Muslim girl dating in London, and commissions her to write a Muslim dating guide. Alongside her own personal struggles, readers are treated to first-hand accounts of Sofia’s sister getting married, her rowing parents and some very questionable dates. It’s said to be fresh, funny and perfect for fans of Mhairi McFarlane.
We’re certainly looking forward to discovering new voices in women’s fiction with Twenty7. You could even be one of them! If you’re an aspiring author with a finished manuscript, the imprint will be hosting 27 days of open submissions later in the year. We’ll keep you posted on that.
For now, what do you think of the cover? We're digging those colours.
