Penguin has launched a new consumer site to celebrate its 80th birthday, which offers free book extracts and interviews with authors, in partnership with Transport for London (TfL) and Virgin Media.
The dedicated website, summerofpenguin.com, is geared towards mobile-first London Underground passengers (though anyone can visit the site) and will offer free access to extracts of new books and exclusive author content this summer until 28th August.
London Underground customers will be able to connect to TfL’s free wifi to take their pick from a daily choice of Penguin stories to read or listen to during their journey, from authors including Harper Lee, Terry Pratchett, John Cleese and Stephen Fry.
While the site is designed for Tube travellers, there’s nothing to stop you connecting and reading along on your own commute elsewhere in the country; with two new pieces of content added to the site every weekday, it’s just the kind of bite-sized literary tonic you need in the morning.
