Bonnier fiction imprint Twenty7 Books has launched an open submissions campaign in a bid to find new authors.
During the open submission period, which started today (1st September) and will close at midnight on the 27th September, writers can submit a one-page pitch for their manuscript, and the first 5,000 words of their novel. The work does not have to be finished, although the author must be previously unpublished.
In January 2016, Twenty7 Books will choose five successful writers, who will receive editorial feedback and be considered for publication.
The publisher said: “As an imprint we publish a really broad range of fiction – in just our first couple of months we’re publishing a romantic comedy, a Cold War crime novel and a sweeping historical epic, amongst other things. We’ll be considering submissions in all genres, and all we’re really looking for is something we believe has the potential to be a bestseller.”
New imprint Twenty7 will focus on debut authors and international writers new to the UK market, and will publish all titles as ebooks in the first instance, with mass market paperbacks following within six months. The first ebook to be released will be rom-com Sofia Khan is Not Obliged, which has a publication date of 3rd September.
