May, Clare and Lara are best friends. Who barely see each other. Their lives are so governed by work that the only time they get to chat is between bites of food as they run off to meetings. So when the opportunity to spend ten glorious days in a luxury spa presents itself, the girls jump at the chance to spend some quality time together. All is well until the ladies find themselves in the middle of an odd little village by the name Ren Dullem and it appears that their luxury break might not happen after all. Faced with inhospitable villagers and a cottage owner who seems less than pleased to have their business, the girls vow to make the most of the holiday. Whatever it takes. As a newbie to Milly Johnson’s writing I was filled with the joyous anticipation of discovering a brand new author, particularly one who has previously been reviewed so highly. When I read this book, I could see why. Milly Johnson creates characters that I feel I know; they are so very realistic that I felt every emotion along with them, however high or low. Reading this novel was actually a completely new experience for me. There were certain elements of it that were almost mystical. Ren Dullem is a village of many men and not much sunshine. It was completely original and almost a character itself, such was the great description. Throw into the mix three workaholic girls who are desperate for a break, three very different brothers, and a magical twist here and there, and you’ve got a sort of romantic adventure book that will thoroughly delight. My only criticism of the book would be that the story, though it turned out to be great, did take a long time to get going. Of course it’s important to know the characters’ backstories, but early on in the book it did feel that this backstory was to the detriment of the book’s pace. All in all, if you like a touch of magic with your romantic comedy and plenty of intriguing men, then this book is perfect for you. 8/10 MORE ABOUT THIS BOOK
