If somebody asked me to recommend a glossy, sexy and
dramatic novel to stash in their suitcase and take away with them to the beach
I would recommend a Tasmina Perry. Her novels are always full of scandal and
intrigue….like a sexy murder mystery…Miss.Marple would be shocked!
Imagine if you fell in love…your lover was murdered…and
you were the prime suspect! Okay, it’s not something we hope would happen to us
but that’s exactly what happens to Sophie Ellis when she is asked to house-sit
at a gorgeous Knightsbridge townhouse. Spending so much time in wealthy circles
leads Sophie to meet Nick Cooper, sexy, wealthy and American and she is swept
into a passionate affair. But when Nick is found dead in his hotel room it’s
clear he’s not only been lying about who he is but that Sophie is now prime
suspect for his murder! Sophie has to fight to not only prove her innocence but
also to protect herself from a group of dangerous players that think Sophie has
something they want…and they won’t stop until they get it back…
Tasmina Perry is truly wonderful when it comes to writing
about the rich and famous. It’s a theme throughout many of her novels and her excellent
descriptions in this one transport the reader from London’s most exclusive
areas, to New York and to the exotic Cote D’Azur. It’s easy to feel part of the world that she creates
and I completely lost myself in it.
I had empathy for protagonist Sophie; she is still hurting
after the death of her father and treasures a book that he gave to her as a
gift before he passed away. It was little details like this that added to the
depth of the character. Ruth, a successful journalist who believes that Sophie
is innocent and Josh, a friend of deceased Nick…and very sexy with it, also
play key roles in helping Sophie find out what happened and fight for her
innocence.
A Tasmina Perry novel is never boring and this book is no
exception – glamorous worlds, sexy leading men and a fast paced, intriguing
plot. The unique premise of glamour and
murder mystery is intoxicating. If youre a fan of Tasmina’s previous novels you
will enjoy this one as it is very similar to her earlier work – a little
repetitive, yes, but you know what they say…if it aint broke, don’t fix it and
Tasmina’s novels definitely ain’t broke.
