To quote Neil Gaiman: “Books make great gifts because they have whole worlds inside of them. And it's much cheaper to buy somebody a book than it is to buy them the whole world!”
True that, Neil. True. That.
We’re huge advocates of book buying and reading in general, but there are hundreds of reasons why books make great gifts to give to other people, too. They provide hours of surprise, escape, and discovery. They make you smarter. More compassionate, too. Heck, they can even reduce stress. Best of all, there’s truly a book out there for everyone. Whether adventure, romance, mystery, comedy or drama is your bag, or you prefer horror, fantasy, sci-fi or something wildly erotic. Perhaps, like us, you’re even partial to a little Fabio now and then (you’ll always have your own genre in our hearts, Fabio). The choices are endless.
To prove there really is a title for everyone on your gift list, the lovely folks at Quercus are offering the opportunity for one of you to win five books from their catalogue (you’ll also get a nice ‘the greatest gift is the passion for reading’ poster). To enter, tell us what book you would love to receive this Christmas here in the comments. You can also tweet your selection to @Novelicious using the #GreatestGift hashtag for an extra entry. We’ll select a UK-based winner at the end of December.
