Twitter can be a marvellous resource for discovering new books, especially when you follow bestselling authors who often read and recommend novels before they’ve even been released. Here’s what a few of our favourite Twitter personalities have been waxing lyrical about recently.
1. After You by Jojo Moyes – The sequel to Me Before You was one of our most anticipated books of the year even before author Hannah Beckerman confirmed how fantastic it is. “This book is tremendous,” she said ahead of her brilliant Guardian interview with Moyes.
2. In Bitter Chill by Sarah Ward – In true Marian Keyes style, she had this to say about the chilling thriller, which sees two young girls go missing: “Bliddy brilliant. BRILLIANT!!! I can't praise it enough.”
3. 12 Dates of Christmas by Lisa Dickinson – Is it too early for Christmas books? Not according to Holly Martin, who said Lisa Dickinson’s festive rom-com “is like a glorious advent calendar of sparkly goodness”. Look, let’s just order the book to enjoy over a September box of mince pies and never speak of this again, k?
4. A Head Full of Ghosts by Paul Tremblay – Stephen King is the undisputed king of horror, so when he says a book “scared the living hell out of me, and I'm pretty hard to scare” you know you won’t find a better Halloween read.
5. Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante – We’re always keen to see what author and Woman & Home books editor Fanny Blake is recommending. “If you've not embarked on this splendid quartet, you've a treat ahead,” she said of the fourth book in the Neapolitan series. The dazzling saga follows the lives of two women, the brilliant, bookish Elena and the fiery uncontainable Lila.
