Here at Novelicious, we absolutely love it when we get a word-of-mouth recommendation for a novel. If this recommendation comes from an author we admire who writes novels we enjoy, chances are we might like what they're recommending, too. And Twitter has always been ace for finding new authors, a quirky or unusual novel, something coming out in the next few months or even a book that might have been around for a while but we've not come across yet (yes, even here at Novelicious HQ, we still don't know about all the authors and all the books out in the world ever, but we're working on it). Some authors are incredibly generous with their recommendations. So thank you to them. Here are five author recommendations we've spotted on Twitter over the last few weeks.
1. The Taxidermist's Daughter by Kate Mosse as recommended by @mariankeyes – In The Taxidermist's Daughter, the villagers are standing in a churchyard at night, waiting to see the ghosts of those who will die in the coming year. As everyone looks at the church, nobody sees the gloved hand pick up the flint to give someone a bash …

2. The Honeymoon Hotel by Hester Browne as recommended by @LDiamondAuthor – Lucy Diamond (author of One Night in Italy) describes The Honeymoon Hotel as "brilliantly witty and gorgeously romantic" on Twitter. The novel is about The Bonneville Hotel, an art deco establishment with glittering ballrooms in Mayfair, which the last few years have not been kind to. Rosie, the events manager, is determined to reclaim the hotel's cachet by making it a chic wedding venue. Only she soon has a rival.
3. I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes as recommended by @jackiecollins – On Twitter Jackie Collins (author of Confessions of a Wild Child) says I am Pilgrim is "a very dense and interesting book that totally draws you in". Pilgrim is the codename for a man who does not exist. Before he retired he was the head of a secret espionage unit for US intelligence and he wrote a definitive book on forensic criminal investigation. This book comes back to haunt him.
4. A Hundred Pieces of Me by Lucy Dillon as recommended by @Lucy_Robinson – Lucy Robinson (author of The Unfinished Symphony of You and Me) describes A Hundred Pieces of Me as "outstanding". It is about Gina who is starting again, but her belongings don't seem to fit who she is now. So, she decides to keep just one hundred special items. Everything else goes.
5. When We Fall by Emily Liebert as recommended by @janegreen – Jane Green (author of Tempting Fate) describes When We Fall as a "must-read". It is about two women, Allison, a woman who has recently lost her husband, and Charlotte, a woman who thinks she has it all. They become friends – until everything falls apart.
